Poi Transmission: new video

I had fun shooting and editing this one. I hope you enjoy it, then enjoy it again. It has more than can really be digested in one viewing.

    gorgeous, think that's my favorite vid or yours yet. Especially liked the sequences with the trailer effects, interspersed with the animations. And I thought I knew most of the hybrids out there ;)

    There's some technically amazing poi going on there. Awesomenesssss.

    I'm baffled at the butterfly moves happening around 1:12-1:30 is there a name for what's going on in there? Or tips on how to learn that? I'm all inspired now, I've been in a stagnant rut for a while and there's no one around here to learn new stuff from... you guys gotta come do a workshop in Las Vegas! ;}

    Oh, and the girl with the baby at the end? TOTALLY adorable!

      There is a lot going on there and as far as names go I can give you a few of the conceptual ones and the name of the base move:
      Bas move polyrhythm trifoil butterfly hybrid AKA Mercedes. Check out my thread on the subject over in the techpoi tribe:
      techpoi.tribe.net/thread/6c...38d71f6620

      So basically it is one arm spinning a giant longarm circle, wile the other arm travels right along with it (arms are therefore same-direction same-time) but the other arm's poi is going antispin. The move is changing the timing of the antispin poi from fast to slow. I start with a big longarm circle doing something like 6 petal antispin and slow it down and close the circle in smaller until it gets to 3 petal antispin. Then an interesting shift happens: 3 petal antispin is the least petals you can have because it takes 2 beats per arm circle to make 3 petals. As I slow down to 1 beat per arm circle, It collapses into a Cateye (1-beat antispin) which you can read about over here:
      techpoi.tribe.net/thread/7d...ef100ae18e

      Also here is a link to a youtube playlist of my animations covering some of the cateye stuff:

    I watched it again!
    ahead of it's time, and controversially the best poi video ever dropped on tribe!!
    Over half the moves cannot be done right away and the ones that can be repeated is done only by experts.
    There is even some style points!!
    Good Job
    I'll probably even watch it again and again...
    Much Love my friends
    open it up.. open it up...
