So this video was shot while Meg was in town last week. There's no music, there's no planning, it's pretty much just a random spin where I act like a dumbass. I do apologize for the gratuitous use of the "F" word in the vid but I think the heckling done by Meg, Corey and Mike really adds something to the video, I'm not sure exactly what but it adds something for sure.
Around 2:00 in and scattered throughout the video there is a bunch of the polyrhythm and pattern stuff I'll be teaching at Fire Drums. I think it's def worth a look-see. I guess that's it... uh..... enjoy... I guess?

Re: F'in Around w/ Fire
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 1:41 AMNice. The "burn out" was cool first time I've seen that, kinda reminded of Back to the Future. I will have to give it a try. -

Mon, April 21, 2008 - 5:55 AMAwesome performance Chris. Looks like it's time for you to come back to Atlanta to do another workshop. I liked all of your spinning stuff that you are doing now.Our fire scene is starting to grow here and we have a lot more people spinning poi now.

Re: F'in Around w/ Fire
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 7:43 AMDude I would LOVE to come back to Atlanta. To be honest man I tell everyone that the Atlanta scene was the most welcoming and down to earth scene I have visited. Not that everywhere's else wasn't awesome, but man you guys took the cake, ate it with me and then gave me back a better one. : )
I'll be in Cali to May 14th but if you guys wanted to set something up, not even workshops per se just some time to chill I would totally come down when I have a weekend off from performing. I hope to talk toy uo soon! Tell everyone I say hello!

Tue, April 22, 2008 - 12:02 PMAbsolutely gorgeous. I am sooo stealing some of those moves. -

Re: F'in Around w/ Fire
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 12:19 PMThanks! this burn was alot fun and I think it captures a bit more of how I am when I perform for non-spinners except you know I didn't really pertend to burn my balls or put my poi out in my hat. hehe
And Ms J Fire, you can steal all the moves you want, that's what they are there for anyway. I hope I can make it to WF, unfortunately that prospect ain't lookin to good at the moment ubt it would be nice to see all my New England fire friends that won't be out at Fire Drums. -

Re: F'in Around w/ Fire
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 1:44 AMgreat - but it was a pity some of the scottish heckling was so low-calibre.
where were the great heckles of old? no cheese-eating, no shouldn't-be-alloweds, just intermittent, low-grade, ordinary, middle class edinburgh whine.
gah!
if i were you i'd import some new talent and replace her. -

Re: F'in Around w/ Fire
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 3:43 AM.It's real hard to find any good Scotts around these parts. Something about the 'coons in kitchen, having to ride donleys to work, and having moose walking down main street scares em away. I guess you'll have to swing out here someday and show us all what true Scottish Heckling is all about.
Thanks man. Ya know we gotta meet up someday. Maybe my plane will need to make an emergency landing in St Louis. hehe If so expect an email!

Re: F'in Around w/ Fire
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 7:56 AMOh yeah, like 'do it naked' 'now without the wig' and 'can't be done' are so original. I might as well have gone to back to 'faster, with less control' and been done with it. Some of us are trying to progress the art of heckling, and not just recycle the same old crap. Boring! Show me something NEW!
;)

Re: F'in Around w/ Fire
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 12:27 PMToday's video was brought to you by the letter "F" and the number "pole-dancer".
Well I certainly hope that Ronan's heckling is worth his salt... or at least worth flying his ass over here... Oh wait the poi is probably worth it too. ;-)
So for the next video I petition for a new curse word motif, like ass or something (personally, I'm leaning towards "something"). In fact every new video from now on should have a new curse word showcased as recurrent theme and variation in a point counterpoint context with the spinning.
That is all,
-Alien Jon
ps, what we really need is for Ima and Olive to curse the video'd spinner out in française , so that all those closet Matrix fans can feel the glory of wiping one's ass with silk. -

Re: F'in Around w/ Fire
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 3:41 AMDefinitely go for the ass heckling in the next one. Where are you spinning in that vid? Anyway, I'll see you next weekend...
